ICYMI: What Caught Our Attention in May
Last month, Canary sent out its spring newsletter, our quarterly digest of what we have going on behind the scenes as well as exciting projects coming up in the months ahead. In this issue, we recap MindJet’s interview with our own Megan Wendell about her “Cheerleader” Workology Personality Type.
From MindJet: “When you think of a cheerleader, you likely picture a gaggle of girls, pom-pons in tow, rooting for the home team. But Cheerleaders are actually much more than that. In fact, having a Cheerleader on your team is essential to keeping team members happy and productivity high. Just ask Megan Wendell, founder of Canary Promotion and head Cheerleader of her team. Wendell admits that she started out as more of a Workhorse, but after hiring additional employees she cultivated a Cheerleader style. ‘I realized quickly that a huge key to success is hiring really smart, creative people. And the key to getting the best out of those people is to empower them and trust them.’”
We were curious about how others view their own leadership styles, so we asked our Facebook followers the same question: What kind of leader are you? It looks like many people in leadership positions fit more than one category — cheerleading workhorse, mediating medic — either by necessity or default. It was one of a few insightful articles we came across in May, including:
