FROM OUR BIRDFEED
Feeling a little confused by Facebook and its many changes? This month, our three-part blog series from staffer Rose Mineo takes a look at how you can use Facebook’s Timeline, Insights and advertising tools to refresh your social media approach, reach your target audience and turn “likes” into real fans. Read the series here.

WHAT WE’RE WORKING ON
We provided-full service communications planning and implementation to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for another year of the Knight Arts Challenge Philadelphia. Now in its second year, the community-wide contest funds the best ideas for engaging and enriching Philadelphia through the arts. This year 35 winners, receiving $2.76 million, were announced at a packed awards ceremony at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Many year-one winning ideas have now launched successfully, while year-two winners are working to raise the funds needed to match their grants. Read about one winner’s micro-grant program for artists in this recent Philadelphia Daily News feature. And keep an eye out for round three — the application period will open in the fall!
We’re currently working with Asian Arts Initiative on communications strategy and a full-year media relations campaign, which has already garnered a significant increase in the organization’s media coverage. On view July 6 - August 7 at their community arts facility in Chinatown North is the exhibition Paper Play: New Works by Jeonghan Yun and Choonhyang Yun, showcasing two- and three-dimensional paper works that visually express a fusion of cultures and creative techniques. Gallery admission is free, with hours Tuesday - Friday, noon - 6 p.m.
We’ve also been developing a communications plan and campaign for Historic Germantown, a consortium in Northwest Philadelphia representing one of America’s most historic neighborhoods. Looking for a relaxed alternative to the crowded Center City 4th of July festivities? HG will host a free, daylong celebration with family-friendly programming, music, food, tours, crafts and more at five of its historic sites and houses.
We continue our PR work with Woodmere Art Museum in Chestnut Hill, telling the stories of the art and artists of the Philadelphia region. Don’t miss Salvatore Pinto: A Retrospective Celebrating the Barnes Legacy and Haunting Narratives: Detours from Philadelphia Realism, 1935 to the Present, both of which received glowing reviews in The Philadelphia Inquirer, before they close on July 15. Summer exhibitions opening on July 28 will showcase the works of artists Doris Staffel and Alex Kanevsky, who has also juried the 71st Annual Juried Exhibition.

NEW CLIENTS
We’ll be working with the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts, which received a grant from the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage for a new state-wide initiative that will help preserve some of Pennsylvania’s most endangered artifacts.
We’ll create a PR campaign for the Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series, a highlight of which will be an in-depth look at the work of choreographer Susan Rethorst, Inquiring Mind/Choreographic Mind, in February.
